Situated in the Southern Drakensberg (A World Heritage Site) Amazian Mountain River Lodge offers 4 Star accommodation just outside Underberg and Himeville, just 18km away from the Sani Pass.
The main Lodge area and rooms are thatched. The lodge also hosts a bridge or chess area, TV area, reading area, restaurant and more formal lounge area with a large fireplace. An outside deck area has the most magnificent views of the river and mountains.
ACCOMMODATION:
Five double rooms are available for couples, single and two people per room. The luxury of two three quarter beds provides a double bed bigger than King size bed or can get separated, offering single’s sharing possibilities. All rooms are non-smoking but a bench has been placed outside every room for the guest convenience as a smoking area.
All our rooms are equipped with the best in luxury – two armchairs and DSTV, spa bath, lockable safe, under floor heating. Our beds are of an orthopaedic design and offer the most luxury in sleeping comfort, with Down Duvets and Down Pillowcases. A mosquito net offers a peaceful night sleep. Our two very private rooms separated from the lodge can easily be used for a family unit.
DINING:
Our chef specialises in African fusion dishes making every meal a new gourmet discovery! We endeavour to where possible cater for all medical related food variations provided that we are notified in advance.
TROUT FISHING:
Wild trout fishing at its best – 3,5km river frontage 20 to 30 meters away from your Room! We have a romantic rowing boat that can be used to row to our little river island and armed with a picnic basket and champagne – what more idyllic can one get?
RIVER TUBING:
We offer two tubing options, the first being a 90 minute excursion, and the second being a four hour excursion. The tubing is absolutely fantastic as it simply allows you to unwind, distress and enjoy nature and the rapids.
CONFERENCES:
The venue also lends itself to a “Bos Beraad” conference facility for senior business executives. They can totally relax and enjoy a stress less environment going back to their workplace rejuvenated and fresh with new ideas.
AROMATHERAPY:
Aroma therapy treatment is available in the privacy of your own room or for the more adventurous a treatment can be arranged anywhere on the farm with the most spectacular views from almost anywhere, – Get reunited with nature!
ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES:
Bushman paintings and caves forms part of the most exciting hikes. 4×4 trails are in abundance in the area. A Zulu cultural village tour can be arranged and for those needing to get to the sea we can arrange a day trip to the closest beaches on the Natal coast.
We offer tubing on the Umzimkulu River which is fantastic outdoor adventure.
We also have two Quad bikes on site and offer a quad bike picnic on the property whereby couples are able to enjoy river and mountain views while exploring the area on a quad bike.
The river can offer a cooling swim on a hot summer’s day for the not so faint hearted or some fun filled tubing or canoeing down the 3,5km stretch. (Guest have to bring their own towels for these excursions).
With such close proximity to the large Umzimkulu river the birdlife is in an abundance and a bird lover’s dream.
We have musical instruments on site for the more gifted. For the amateur astronomer’s we have star gazing evenings filled with fun of discovering our closest stars and planets.
